Youth

Lions Clubs all across the British Isles and Ireland support young people by recognising their efforts and providing them with opportunities to learn, achieve and grow.

Lions support TACADE, (Teachers Advisory Council on Alcohol and Drug Education), one of the world's leading personal development and drug prevention education organisations. Together, the two organisations help children develop the Life Skills and self-esteem they need to lead healthy, safer lives.

Youth Football

Annually in Great Britain, the Lions 5 Nations Youth Football Tournament allows under 14's teams to compete against each other in the only UEFA sanctioned competition for this age group.

Selby District Lions Club hold a qualifying tournament, the winners of which go through to the District final.

Young Musician

This competition, also held annually, is open to young musicians up to the age of 23 years. A different instrument is chosen each year. The standard is high, as they have to be at least a grade 8 student. There are District heats followed by a National Final the winner of which goes forward to the European Finals.

Young Ambassador

Lions Young Ambassador Scheme, held every year, acknowledges today's young people working as volunteers in their local communities and gives them the recognition they deserve.

Here again Selby District Lions Club hold a qualifying round, the winner going through to the District Final, progressing to the National Final and eventually to the European Final.

Peace Poster

The Lions International Peace Poster Contest, held annually, encourages young people, ages 11-13 years, to artistically express their view of peace—the overall worldwide winner is introduced at Lions United Nations Day at the UN Headquarters in New York. For more information, click here.

Disabled Fun/Sports Day

Every August, a Disabled Fun/Sports Day is organised and held in Doncaster. Lions clubs from all around the Yorkshire and Humberside area team together to provide fun and games at this very well supported and rewarding event.
